When you're looking update your home or prepare it for sale, believe it or not, the color of paint and tile you use can actually have an impact on the value/asking price of your home.

White, as it turns out, can be a killer in asking the price...neutral colors seem to be where the biggest bang for your buck comes from.

According to a recent study by Zillow in which they studied more than 32,000 sold across the United States.  After careful analysis, they determined which room colors correlated to higher-than-average (or lower than average) sales prices.

Here are the results:

RoomPaint ColorValue Increase
KitchenSoft blue-gray+$1,809
BathroomPowder blue/periwinkle+$5,400
BedroomCerulean/cadet blue+$1,856
Dining RoomSlate/pale blue-gray+$1,926
Living RoomLight beige/taupe+1,809

The colors they found that have a consistently negative impact on your house value and asking price include straw yellow, off-white, light pink, brick red, pastel gray and medium brown.
